When people think of Hollywood, they think of it being very glamorous. In reality, it’s not all lights, camera, or action with celebrities in every corner instead having homeless and drug addicts in every corner. Drug abuse has become a bigger epidemic overtime. Many individuals have been exposed to drugs early on which has lead to their addiction. Falling into the habit of drugs does not lead down a good path when all a person desires are substances to make them feel delirious. The concept of drugs being bad has been tossed around and questioned because of it’s positive effects towards those who are ill. Drug addiction begins with exposure. Not to say every one exposed will become addicted, but many decide to look for drugs knowing it is easy to access. The source of drugs in Hollywood is in the air with many who are careless enough to distribute, smoke or do any other drugs out in public. For instance, having a school so close to Hollywood Blvd. is a danger to youth. As a long time employee on Hollywood Blvd Mercedes states, â€Å"It’s very sad to see young people today come a block away from school to Hollywood Blvd. to find drugs instead of maybe hang out at the mall with their friends† (Garcia) Teens look for drugs to escape reality, the many things they tend to face as teenagers. Many adolescents face stress, work overload, occasionally jobs, and a lot of responsibility at such a young age since they are on the road to becoming adults. Henry spoke of his drug addiction and said, â€Å"I looked for drugs because I thought it was the best thing out there. It made me think my actions were better and that drugs were all I needed to survive† (Santos).
